Support - 2025 - 200x160cm - Acrylic and pigment on raw canvas
200 × 160cm
Acrylic and pigment on raw canvas.
This piece represents the beginning of a creative breakthrough that has brought about an exciting new phase of my practise.
Earlier this year I undertook a 2 week residency in Santa Eulalia, Ibiza, Spain, during which I decided to step away from many of my traditional image making materials and techniques. I decided to experiment with raw pigment, and freehand painting, in a bid to reduce my plastic usage, and connect with the surface in a more intimate manner.
The content of my work also started to take on a new feeling, I wanted to peel things back and simplify the emotional response for the viewer, larger ambiguous shapes, less colours, with earthier, more organic tones.
I decided to make my largest piece for 3 years, as it felt like a threshold to something different, something more refined, a new exciting step in my path.
